If not more, you’ve probably spoken to at least one or two developers, and they’ll tell you different things. Some developers will say it can be built for ₹2,000. Another might say it’ll cost ₹100,000. Therefore, it will lead to confusion, wondering whether a price of ₹25,000 or a price of ₹100,000 is the correct price. What’s the actual price, and how do you figure out the actual development cost of your application?
I had the same confusion when I started developing my first application. in this article, I’ll clear up this confusion for you.
So, the price of an application depends on two things. The first thing is how many features the application has. It depends on your requirements and the type of application it is. And the second thing depends on who’s developing the application. Yes, it also depends on who’s developing it: whether they’re a beginner, an intermediate developer, or a professional. This also determines the price of the application.
So, whenever you have an idea for an application, first note down its features. Don’t ever go around saying something like, “I want an application like Zomato.” That’s not true, that’s not true. If you say Zomato has 1,760 features.” So, if you go to develop every feature, someone will quote you 25 lakhs, someone will quote 1 crore, someone will quote 2 lakhs. So, you shouldn’t do that.
What you should do is say, I want a food delivery application, multi-vendor, and I want this feature.” The main feature you need is this. Okay. And my suggestion is that whenever you’re building a new application, start with as few features as possible. The fewer features, the easier it is to build, and at a lower cost. So, start with as few features as possible. Then gradually add more features to them.
So, first, note down all the features of your application, saying, I need these features.” If you don’t understand, use ChatGPT. Go to ChatGPT and say, “I want a food delivery application.” What features are important for a minimum viable product (MVP)? List all those features. And all you have to do is hand those features over to the developer.
Now comes the question of where to find developers and how to get a price quote from them. For this, I’ll tell you about a site called fiverr.com.
To get a price quote, you simply need to go to fiver.com and search for your service requirement in the search bar. For example, if I want an Android app developed, I’ll search for “Android developer.” Once I search for “Android developer,” I’ll see a complete list of different developers.
Now, from this list, you need to see which developers are online. For example, if a green dot appears, it means they’re online. So, you simply need to send a message to 5-10 of the developers with the green dot who are online. In the message, simply click on them and look for “Contact Me.” Go to the “Contact Me” option and click “Ask a Question.” Then, send them a message.
Whatever application you want to create, send them a message with a brief idea about it. After writing the message, you simply tell them: Send it. Send this message to 5-10 people, and whoever replies will ask you some questions about how to create the application and what features you need. Respond to them. Then they’ll tell you how much it will cost to create the application.
When you ask 5-10 people this way, you’ll get an idea of how much it costs to develop this type of application. This is what’s going to happen. Whichever developer you hire, at least you won’t be robbed. You won’t be confused about whether or not you’re paying the right amount for the application you’re developing.
You might find that someone is charging you ₹5 lakh for 500 applications, or someone else is asking you ₹5000 for an application worth ₹5 lakh. But they’re just cheating you for ₹00. They won’t be able to build the application for you even for ₹00. So, you have to look at everything. Even if a very expensive item is available at a very low price, there’s still a scam. Even if a very cheap item is available at a very high price, there’s still a scam. So, you have to look at everything.
